Glorious morning!
This morning's focus will be from an amazing spiritual leader named Patanjali.
“ Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists "
Whoa, use that for contemplation.
Who is this person Patanjali? He was an author and a mystic philosopher in ancient India. He is believed to be the author of the yoga sutras which is a classical yoga text. These texts go way back. It is said he lived between the second century BCE and the fifth century CE. He is regarded as an avatar. What is an avatar? In Hinduism, It is defined as a manifestation of a deity, or released soul in bodily form on earth, an incarnate divine teacher.

Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated even before Pantanjali”s texts. Yoga means to unite. Unite with what? Unite with the source of all things, our creator. Although once commonly practiced alone in solitude, now is commonly practiced in group settings since the 20th century. What this quote says to me is, yoga reminds us who we really are, a soul having a physical experience. If we only relate to our body and think we are just having a physical experience, we miss out on a vital connection to a higher energy. God. You can call it whatever you want, source, divine being, ECT.. the name doesn't change the fact that the energy exists.

We do have free will and can ignore tapping into that higher state of energy. When we ignore getting quiet and do not tap into that source, we can never experience the full joy and peace that is always available. We can't fully understand who we are without going back to the source that created us. Yoga and meditation ( same thing really ) is where we enter the doorway to that source. When he speaks of the present moment being the only place that life exists, he is correct. Our past is gone. We can’t physically feel the pain of a broken leg that happened a year ago. We can't hug a loved one who has passed. That part of life is over. The future has not yet happened. The future is determined by our thoughts and actions now, in this moment.

As I am typing this blog I need to think about what I want to write before I command my fingers to press the appropriate keys on the keyboard. We can only create in the now, so the now is where all of our power is. When we take the time to do pratices like yoga, or meditatation, we are making a decision to re connect or should I say disconnect from the physical world and reconnect with the now.. I do Tai Chi Gung to connect to the now everyday, and since I started that practice 3 and a half years ago, it has helped transform my life. When we acknowledge and seek the creator of all things, we tap into life giving energy and it heals us and nourishes our soul. Our soul doesn't care about a lobster dinner lol our soul needs spiritual nourishment to thrive.

A happy soul is the ultimate goal. If our health is ok and we have a lot of money but are not happy or content, nothing can remedy that except God. Anyone can access the divine anytime, anywhere. Going into the present moment deliberately is where we create everything in our lives. The more conscious we use that tapping in time the more desired results we get. When we don't take the time each day and our minds are just running wild, or running the show so to speak , then stress and confusion develops and we get overwhelmed. Over-stimulated. Overloaded, a recipe for disaster. It takes our free will to make sure our soul is getting fed. The news media and society pull us away from the now and in a constant state of worry and negativity. The media also encourages us to buy things and to focus on others. No wonder why so many people are stressed and not in their natural state of peace. They have simply forgotten who they really are and what they really need. We are divine souls and that needs to be honored and nourished DAILY.
Do you live in the moment ? Do you or anyone you know is completely hooked on the TV or their phone and social media? Or all three? I can help guide you or them to a place of balance. Make a free discovery call today. Peace be with you, Dawn
