Love Is Everything
Love Is Everything

Glorious morning!

Well it seems fitting for my insight newsletter to expand on a quote about love, given Valentine's day is just 4 days away. The Quote I am choosing is from an anonymous person

. “ Love is the bridge between two hearts “

Before we expand on that simple but profound quote, let's see how Valentine's day came to be. Actually historians can not quite pinpoint the exact origins of the holiday and the story is not as lovey dovey as you would think. It certainly has evolved over time from its origins. The information that I gathered starts way before St Valentine even came along. It seems to have started from an ancient pagan festival that predates Christianity. It was celebrated in the middle of the month of February and involved feasting and pairing off partners and some weird stuff as well. There was a bit of barbaric flavor to the origins such as sacrificing a goat and then cutting it into strips to slap women with , believing it would make them more fertile in the coming year. It seems that's where the color red came into play.

As the Romans turned away from pagan beliefs and embraced Christianity, the holiday evolved into one of honoring St Valentine. Eventually as Pope Gelasius declared February 14th Valentines Day, the old bloody, sacrificial nonsense was outlawed. YAY! The day was actually named after a martyred saint and even that story has two different subject lines. One where the saint was continuing to marry soldiers after a decree forbade any soldier to do so and that saint Valentine was finally executed for his noncompliance. Another story was that Saint Valentine had been imprisoned and he fell in love with one of his visitors and began writing her letters. Before his execution he sent one last letter to her that was signed off “ From you Valentine “

Whatever the true story is, it has evolved into a day where we celebrate love. Nothing wrong with that! So back to the quote, “ Love is the bridge between two hearts “. This quote says it all to me. Love is what connects us to each other. When we share love with one another it not only feels good but it gives meaning to this crazy world we live in. Let’s face it, without love connections, why be here. Love has a power beyond what we can see with our eyes. It's a vibration in our soul that motivates us in so many different ways. Let's examine when we hug or hold hands. Why do we do that?

To express what we are feeling inside and share it. Look at emergency medical technicians, ( EMT ) they spend their days being as gentle and caring as they possibly can to save the lives of people they have never met before. Firefighters will potentially burn to death for the love of humanity. Police officers will defend to the death if they have to also in the name of helping strangers. I mean only love can motivate something like that. Having children can bring out a level of love that we have never experienced before, again, a parent would die if it means saving their child. There is a scripture that reads “ There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one’s friends “. This thing called love is pretty powerful. Love also never goes away, EVER. I recently saw a dog that looked almost exactly like my dog of a lifetime Jo Jo. He passed away about 30 years ago and as I was petting this dog, the hair on him was so exact to my dog that it brought me right back to the days when he was here and I was petting and loving on him. My eyes were welling up with tears because I missed the love we shared physically at one time and was feeling it right then and there. One thing was certain. My love for him was still in my heart, proving that he and I created a bridge that forever connects us and that physical limitations can not alter.

Love is eternal.  Love is what we are. Love is meant to be given away so we can receive, and we ALL need that. I am sending love to my readers today, and thank you for sending me love with your time to read my newsletters.
