Gratitude is a choice we make
Gratitude is a choice we make

Glorious morning!

Today let’s expand on a quote from the country singer Willie Nelson.

When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around. “

Great quote to focus on because that “ attitude of gratitude “ is imperative for transforming our lives for the better. Everything is energy. All energy carries a certain frequency. Every thought we think carries a certain frequency also.

When we are thinking negative thoughts the frequency is low and when we think positive thoughts the frequency is high. The dominant law of the universe is “ like attracts like “ so it's pretty easy to understand when we are thinking lower thoughts, we attract a negative reality and the reverse is also true. Sounds so easy right?

Human beings are habitual creatures. We can create habits and rhythms very easily whether they are good or bad. Just eating ice cream a couple of days in a row can set up a craving in the brain that automatically repeats itself daily. There was a time I got into the habit of eating a pint of Haagen- Dazs like 4 to 5 days a week lol. It was almost effortless to do that but the reality is, the sugar in the ice cream is pretty high and we all know how damaging too much sugar can be on our bodies. I didn't mean to get into a habit that would end up hurting me but it was really easy to do.

So it goes for good things. I walk every day. That habit turns out to be a good one so I continue that. As far as the 4 or 5 day ice cream diet? Well I stopped that one and now only eat it occasionally. Developing habits that help us instead of hurt us is an ongoing dance to be mastered for sure.

We can't be grateful and negative at the same time. If we want to be more grateful in life, we need to remember when challenges or negative realities are showing up in our lives. It's better to seek out things to be grateful for instead of feeding our negative circumstance with doom and gloom, or even worse, entertaining thoughts that it's a hopeless situation. There is a solution to everything. Therefore any problem we have can be remedied, so why worry?

It takes practice to be that optimistic in the midst of turmoil. Counting our blessings is the fastest way to get there in my opinion. When we refuse to stay in negative frequencies like complaining ( complaining is really declaring there is no solution ) we can practice the art of being grateful. If we get caught up in the illusion that we don't have anything to be grateful for and complain about our lives, the universe will dish out that exact frequency back to us. We will attract the same kinds of people and environments that support that frequency, in other words you will attract other complainers and before you know it, you have complaining parties together. “ Your vibe attracts your tribe. “

Since I started the regular practice of Tai Chi Gung, it has encouraged self awareness which is part of spiritual growth. That self awareness has helped me catch myself when I have stinkin thinkin and I now consciously choose different thoughts and look for solutions right away instead of wallowing in the drama of the problem. I am sure that takes time to master because there are times when I dont catch myself and get pulled in by someone complaining and I join them. I now thank the divine every day for everything good in my life, no matter what is going on in my life with family and friends.

I have learned that if I want a happy and prosperous life, it takes effort and the effort  starts with simple thoughts of what is good in my life. What we focus on grows so let's grow the good stuff. I am grateful that you took time out of your day to read this article. Thank you. If you or anyone you know is in a funk and can't seem to find the good in their life, backpack therapy can help find out why. Make a free discovery call to day and ask me anything. Peace be with you, Dawn
