Glorious morning!
Who is Confucius ? Why do his wisdom-filled quotes still resonate today? There are so many wonderful philosophers who have left their enlightened marks on society for us to ponder and contemplate. When we contemplate wisdom, it can help us grow emotionally and spiritually. Confucius was a chinese philosopher born:c 551 B.C.E., during his teachings, he became dissatisfied with government in his time, his teachings suggested that rulers of governments primary task should be the welfare and happiness of the people. ( what a concept right? ) To accomplish this aim, the ruler first had to set a moral example of his own conduct. This example would in turn influence the people's behavior. Sounds sensible to me! How about you? Let’s expand together on this quote from confucius…
‘“He who knows all the answers, has not been asked all the questions”
What this speaks to me is, once you feel you know it all, you stop growing. You stop being a student of life and can no longer expand with the infinite possibilities in life. How can one ever learn something new? How boring would life be if we were not challenged to find out answers to things? What a bleak life that would be. If we are infinite beings, well infinite goes on forever so if there are infinite possibilities in life, then leaving oneself open to that concept would require us to realize, we do not have the answers to everything. We can certainly ask, search, and ponder. To me that makes life interesting. It makes for a more well rounded and balanced person. I could see how government leaders of any time frame would act if they felt they knew all there is to know as opposed to being open to suggestions. How open would they be to answers if they have the skill of putting oneself in someone else's shoes? Just the fact that no one on the planet knows what every person's life feels like is proof that we can't “ know it all “. I feel that some people who claim to know it all are really putting on a show to try to impress people because they feel inadequate in some way, or want to just check out and not do their own life work. It takes energy to find answers. When we allow ourselves to think you can't teach an old dog new tricks, we stop exploring to see if that’s really the truth. We don't test the dog's full potential to see if he can learn a new one. We just assume he is no longer teachable. How about you? What does this quote say to you?
Here are a few examples of some things you might not have known the answers to. Fun fact . Worker bees live for about 30 days. They literally are born to get a specific job done for the planet and that's it, until the next batch are born to take over the job. I did not know their life span doesn't even last a season! Another fun fact. The oldest current land animal is Johnathan the giant turtle. He is 191 years old! One more fun fact… Roller coasters were spawned from an idea in the 1800’s by LaMarcus Thomson. He hated the fact that Americans were tempted by hedonistic places like saloons and brothels so he set out to create ways for people to have more clean fun, and away from seedier pastimes. No wonder why I love roller coasters ! lol. I myself did not have the answers to these possible questions one day ago, a little proof that I do not know it all, and I am ok with that. I am glad I am always open to learning. How about you?
