What Is Your Mission?

Glorious morning!

Today I want to expand on the quote

“ I’ve always believed the mission is greater than the man “

by Rick Perry. Rick Perry is a politician who served during the Trump administration 2016 to 2020. What is a mission?  The definition in the dictionary is , A special assignment given to a person or a group. The question I had about four years ago was, What’s my mission?

After coming to the realization that I was married to my husband because of old co dependent reasons and low self esteem issues, I decided to heal those issues within myself and when I decided to do that I asked God for help. I realized I could not get my life right on my own. I mean after all I made a mess of it for decades no matter how hard I tried to fix it. I finally surrendered my will to our creator and said I will do whatever it takes to get it right this time and seek the divine’s guidance each day.

As I started this new daily connection with God I felt guided to focus mostly on me instead of focusing on others. I ended up being led to find a spiritual teacher, a lama named Master Lama Rasaji. Lama means great soul. His teachings are spelled out really well in a 45 day renewal that he created to help people get on track with their inner work. I started the 45 day renewal 4 years ago and have not stopped. The renewal consists of a simple regimen of a solo daily walk in nature, a little prayer or meditation each morning, 20 minutes or so of Tai Chi Gung and reading 10 minutes of his book The Circle Of Chi.

As I committed to these things my life started to change in amazing ways. I was listening more because the exercises help quiet the mind and when our minds are quiet we can hear the whispers of our soul. One day I heard deep in my soul that I have a mission. When I felt this strong feeling it blew my mind because I knew my mind did not put it there. It came from the depths of my soul and inspired me to listen more and take action.

We all have a mission in my opinion, the question is, are we listening AND who and what are we listening to on a daily basis. I started to put my mission above anything else because I did not want to go through my lifetime and miss the opportunity of not fulfilling it. When we focus on ourselves long enough we can discover our natural God given talents. Those talents are unique gifts from God that we are to express and use while we are here. If we are busy taking care of others and ignoring our own self care, we will definitely miss the mark on our own personal mission. When we make the mission bigger than ourselves, we are basically declaring that nothing will come between you and your mission. That's when real progress can be made. When we take the time to find out what our mission is ( our own unique talents ) and use our gifts to serve humanity, we feel more complete.

I always knew there was more than just waking up each day repeating the same drama filled story of my marriage. When I started really questioning that, the answers came. We all know what our mission is, but are we honoring it? God put a mission in all of our hearts and we are here to collectively get those missions done. If we are lost in our drama filled stories of pain and grief, the mission in our hearts gets overshadowed and neglected. When I decided to really honor why I am here , I discovered what true fulfillment feels like. Now I wake up each day eager to help people find their own buried mission so they too can be set free from the trap of illusionment of their own ego, just like I was just four short years ago. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I am helping humanity find what I have found. Contentment in serving God.
