Glorious morning !

I love quotes that have stood the test of time. They stand the test of time because it resonates with many. They are born from peoples “ah ha” moments, a moment when they have reached a level of clarity about something that helps them resolve an internal struggle or confusion they were having. It can be profound.  We as a human family are here to help guide one another to our truth. The closer we get to that truth the more “ah ha” moments we start having and boy does that always feel so good when we have our own “ah ha” moment. In my newsletters I will be sharing weekly quotes that can help us expand our truth and help stimulate “ah ha” moments.

“ If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are headed”

                                                          -Lao Tzu

Lao Tzu was a daoist philosopher born 500 years before Jesus. The quote is simple yet can really make you think. What this speaks to me is, am I being deliberate with where I want my life to go?, or am I just going with the herd and letting society lead my way. If we are not, at the very least, mindful and responsible for where we are taking ourselves, then it's more of a gamble where we end up. That sounds like haphazard living as opposed to purposeful living. Do I want to just go where the wind blows me or do I want some control and have a say about where I am going? If I don’t like the way my life is playing out, the beauty of it is, I can change direction. That direction can change with one little compilation or one thought. The more deliberate action I take to achieve my goals and dreams , I am bound to eventually end up where “ I “ was heading, How about you? What does this quote bring to your mind?

I know a girl who followed her mothers recommendation for her career choice to be a marine biologist. The trouble with that was, it wasn't what she really wanted. Pleasing her mother came before pleasing herself. I'm sure you can guess what happened next…. She was away at college and was miserable. She ended up quitting school and lots of money was wasted. She then felt like she failed herself AND her mother. She came home feeling defeated. The silver lining in the story is, at least she learned a lesson about just going into something haphazardly. Mistakes are gifts in disguise if we use them wisely and most importantly take responsibility for them . Our mistakes are supposed to be our teachers. Our mistakes are always a tool to get us on the path we are meant to be on. That path lies in our soul, and only we know what that path is, not our mother or father. They might mean well, but ultimately no one can feel the promptings of your soul , only you can.

Finding out our personal destiny can be tricky if we were not guided as kids to believe in ourselves. It can be even more tricky if our upbringing was volatile or unstable. Unbeknownst to many of us, we are living lives that are unexamined and just playing out from an old program from our past. If the people who were in charge of our developmental years were struggling with their own lives, then it makes sense why so many of us struggle to fulfill our destinies. Instead of being upset about it we can skip the regret all together and start to focus on the important steps that will move us forward towards our desired life. If you are having trouble getting over any past hurdles that keep showing up in your life, or need clarity on what is keeping you stuck, I can help. Just schedule a free discovery call me. I can help you change direction. You deserve to live the life that you desire. “ A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” That my friends is another Lao Tzu quote. I look forward to speaking with you. Peace be with you, Dawn.
