Can't Quiet Your Mind?
Can't Quiet Your Mind?

Glorious morning!

Today we will expand on a quote from Pantanjali.

“ Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind “

Pantanjali was an author, mystic and philosopher in ancient India. He is also believed to be the author of one of the greatest yoga sutras.

Yoga goes back thousands of years, way before Christ. Yoga has stood the test of time for a reason. People who practice yoga are able to know what it feels like to quiet the mind. People who do not practice yoga likely have no idea what they are missing. When we are driven solely by our thoughts with no silence to tune into our intuition, we live a chaotic life. I like to describe Intuition as a direct open connection to divine intelligence.

In the short version of my book that is available on my website called, Forgiven, I tell you about the day I was being attacked at 11 by my uncle. The little message inside my head to stop resisting and fighting back and play dead saved my life. That was my intuition. We must turn to our intuition, we must be open to receive the messages. If we are constantly focusing our minds on outer distractions, we are moving away from our intuition. When we choose to go within, that requires our attention in a different way. Yoga is the perfect example of stopping everything you are doing outwardly in the world, and getting quiet on purpose. The rewards for such discipline are amazing. The reward is a connection to your higher divine self that is ALWAYS connected to peace, love and joy. The reward is the rest we discover that our spirit and body and mind so desperately needs to be in a balanced state.

When any part of us is unbalanced, something eventually goes wrong. When we eat too much, we gain weight, if we gain too much weight, we can shorten our life span needlessly. It would be safe to say that we would be unbalanced in our weight management when we eat too much. If we sleep too much it causes an imbalance. Too much sleep is linked to a host of medical problems like diabetes, heart disease, and depression. Our spiritual life ( connecting to a higher power ) is just as, if not more important than our daily physical life of eating, working and sleeping. Not learning how to quiet the mind leaves our soul and spirit in an unbalanced state and that eventually affects the physical body in negative ways. The term disease is really a state of ’ DIS’ ‘EASE’ We can’t possibly live a happy and healthy balanced life if we do not know the art of gathering peace , love and joy . The only way to do that is by turning towards it, by quieting the mind. Learning how to be still and quiet our minds on a regular basis is a gift to give yourself that pays the greatest dividends.

I feel the public school system needs to implement some form of yoga in kindergarten and keep it as a regular subject needed to graduate. I mean isn't yoga and learning to be still just as important as algebra? I'm thinking yoga would serve the person's life in ways algebra could never, yes? Seems we are a bit backwards here in the west. The dysfunction I lived in my former marriage was mostly a result of me not tapping into my higher wisdom each day. How do I know this? I started to actually connect daily to the divine about 4 years ago. I heard my soul loud and clear and started listening and being led by that, instead of being led by just my repetitive thoughts AND possibly the thoughts of others. There is a verse in the bible that says “ Be still and know that I am God “ They were on to something even thousands of years ago. I will leave you with this. If you try to meditate or do a form of yoga and it irritates you ? Wow. I would look into that for sure. Not being comfortable with your peace is a huge sign of unbalance. Is that person you?
