No silence, No peace

Glorious morning!
Keeping with the theme of the mind this week, let’s continue with a quote from Naval Ravikant.
“ We say we want peace of mind, but what we really want is peace from mind. “
Oh we will have some mind bending fun with this one.
First, who is naval Ravikant? He is an Indian born American entrepreneur and investor. He also co-founded Angelist.
What this quote says to me is pretty direct but then leaves one of the human populations biggest challenge of perhaps their life. Quieting the mind. We can not feel the presence of peace in a noisy mind. My tai chi gung and spiritual teacher Master Lama Rasaji reminds his students that when we start the journey on quieting the mind ( yes it takes time and attention ) he says it’s not the quantity of thoughts we need to be aware of in the beginning but the quality of the thoughts. Producing less thoughts naturally follows after lots of practice cleaning up our act. Thinking good thoughts. So this quote has 2 reminders. We can't feel peace if we are thinking hateful, angry, vengeful or judgemental thoughts, well , thats not peaceful. That is like trying to feel happy and joyful while screaming at someone. They are opposites. The other reminder is, to have no thoughts. Easier said than done, that's why someone who has mastered their thoughts and has the power to not think at all, such as my teacher, earned the title “ master “. To master something takes diligent concerted daily effort. It takes discipline. It also takes time. He wrote a book called The Circle Of Chi that has 9 chapters. He wrote them in the order of importance if we want to have lasting positive results in our lives. It's no surprise he has the mind as the 2nd chapter. Yes, gaining control of our thoughts is the ticket to freedom. When we realize our thoughts create our reality, we start to be more responsible with them. When we realize that overthinking things ( overactive minds plagues the planet ) is extremely stressful, we can do something about it. We can start doing things to get back to the natural state of who we always were. Peace and love.
When we are born we can't think, and look what comes through because of that. We were once that non thinking bundle of peace and love. We know nothing else, UNTIL we learn how to process a language. Yes that expands our capacity as a human being but it also can handicap us emotionally. If we are constantly thinking and keep pushing the silence away, then we get further and further away from that childlike state. We become like programmed robots. Robots can do an awful lot, but they can't and never will be able to feel joy, peace and love. I myself like the rest of humanity fell into the ever slow and subtle trap of overthinking. I was pretty hyper as a kid and without parents teaching us how to meditate and quiet the mind ( rare, but that's changing now thank goodness ) I just went with it but it eventually caught up to me and as the years went by I was wondering why my life was never quite what my soul wanted it to be. I couldn't hear my soul's promptings because I was not giving it time each day to hear it in quiet meditation. Meditation simply means “ to listen “. If our soul holds our innermost dreams and desires, then I think it's pretty important not to ignore it.Our soul is where our peace lies. When my life, or should I say, when my soul got restless and tired of being ignored, I started to feel less satisfied and joyful. When we are not happy with our life, there are reasons that need to be explored within. In my opinion, we will never ever be content, peaceful and happy unless we are doing what our soul came here to do. That can only be discovered by going within, asking yourself questions and then quieting the mind enough to hear it's directions. Your soul knows the answers to everything. Are we listening? There is no peace in an over active mind.
Is your mind in full control and your life is a reflection of that? Have you forgotten what it's like to be in a state of peace? I once did, but rediscovered it. I can help you do the same. Book a free discovery call with me today. Peace be with you, Dawn
