Glorious morning!

Today we will expand on a quote from a famous singer Dionne Warwick.

“ Crying is cleansing. There’s a reason for tears-happiness or sadness.”

We all have tear ducts, yes even you men!

Before we dive in let’s get to know a little about Dionne Warwick. Dionne was born in 1940 in east orange New Jersey. She is an American singer, actress and television host. She has won six grammys and has been inducted into the walk of fame as were 3 of her songs.

What this quote says to me is, it’s important to periodically cry for mental health purposes, although getting stuck in the sadness tears for too long can end up hindering our growth. There is balance in my opinion. If you don't cry enough, that's usually a sign that you hold back the cleansing flow of tears out of fear. Fear of feeling. That is also an unbalance. Crying too much can be a sign of unconsciously embracing the sad parts of life and not letting them go, and that drains our life force energy, on the other hand, holding feelings in and not releasing through the crying process leaves us with pent up, stored emotions. Both imbalances are a recipe for disaster.

Let's start with not utilizing our tear ducts enough through crying. Believe it or not it has been found that consistently not crying enough can potentially lead to decreased ability to produce tears over time. Wow, so it’s a double whammy if you hold in your emotions and dont cry. Tears flow for a reason when we are sad or happy. It is an expression of ourselves. It is also part of this human experience. When we deny ourselves, we can’t live in a state of peace. When we suppress our emotions and don't release through crying, it's like carrying around a child on your back who is constantly crying, only you have tape over the child's mouth so you can't hear their cries, but that doesnt address why the child is crying and finding the solution to stop the crying. I read an article that crying emotional tears actually detoxifies the body because the tears themselves contain stress hormones and other toxins.

From an emotional standpoint crying helps us recover from grief. So to the ones who have an aversion to cry please reconsider. A Lot of men fall into this dilemma. We as a society have weirdly associated men crying as being weak, and that it is not manly to cry. What a travesty it has been to teach our boys to not cry. What we are REALLY saying is, deny a part of you so you can never experience what it's like to be whole and at peace, YIKES! If men were not supposed to cry then they would be born without tear ducts. Feeling emotions does not require you to specifically be male or female. It simply requires you to be human. Men are equally human as women.

My advice to men? Learn how to cry and give yourselves the same permission to cry like women have been afforded in society. As far as crying too much? Well yes you can. Focusing on an event that initiates crying for too long and too often, starts to bring unbalance in our emotional state. It needs to be balanced out with happiness, joy, laughter and peace. If we are not focusing enough on cultivating those happy emotions in life, then life gets pretty unbearable. If you find yourself crying out of nowhere and don't know why, then that is a big sign to go inwards for self reflection. Self reflection is necessary for growth and our tears are trying to say something. Tears out of nowhere for seemingly no reason is your spirit trying to get your attention to something that needs tending to.

Alas then there are those happy tears that we sometimes cry. Happy tears are my favorite kind, how about you? Happy tears are like your soul rejoicing in the glory of the divine. Happy tears remind us of who we really are. When we are so touched inside by another person's words or actions, it's like a soul party lol. I want more soul party’s , how about you? Do you find it difficult to cry or know someone who rarely cries? Do you cry too much and can't find the happy tears to cry? I can help you find out why. Make a free discovery call today. Peace be with you, Dawn
