Glorious morning!
I am loving this quote by George Bernard Shaw.
“ Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself “
A little about the man who had that “ Ah Ha “ moment. George Bernard Shaw was born in 1856. He was an Irish playwright, critic, polemicist ( someone who strongly defends a particular opinion ) and a political activist. His influence on western theater, culture and politics extended from the 1880’s to his death at 96 and beyond. He was once awarded the nobel prize in literature.
We can really expand on his quote and easily relate because I feel every human on the planet has at one time or another asked themselves the question, who am I? When we ask ourselves questions, we are actually taking responsibility for our life. You can't find yourself if you aren't even looking, to me that is just existing. This quote speaks to me in a way that stimulates a very important question, very likely one of the most important questions of one's life, but mindlessly searching for things to define me and make me happy and fulfilled? I'm not sure that is the ultimate goal. If I am searching to “ find “ myself, then I may very well be on an endless search, but at least I am seeking. Seek and ye shall find, but will I actually find myself? Or will that search lead me back to where I always was, here within me. Hopefully that is the case because we are not somewhere out there waiting to be found. We may think we are lost, but we are not. we are always here just behind our eyes. I feel that it starts with asking questions about who we are and then the search leads to the realization that we need to search inside of ourselves in order to create. We are all infinite beings expressing ourselves in this vast universe. How we express ourselves depends on how we are creating, like George Bernard Shaw suggested. So spending our time creating what we want to experience and how we want to express ourselves to others is an important thing to do, if we want a happy and joyful life. I feel until we realize that we are the creators of our own universe, we will be forever searching. Finding yourself is an open question, creating yourself is a definitive action, in other words when you already know who you are, then you can create wonderful things from that “I am “ place. The place from knowing your infinite brilliance. If we can all realize that we are already brilliantly made in the divine image of our creator, then we need to get busy creating. What does his quote speak to you?
For many years I kept searching outside of myself and was creating very limiting circumstances in my life. I struggled with self confidence in being able to support myself financially. I didn't have the confidence that I could actually pull it off because I didn't realize I was just as powerful as any other woman out there who was supporting themselves. I would wonder why they successfully create wealth for themselves and I can’t. I used to spend my time envying them instead of creating wealth for myself. I kept searching for the answers why, eventually I realized while doing my mirror work that deep down I didn't believe I could and I was scared. I eventually re-traced that fear to a childhood traumatic event in my life at 11 years old. When I did my mirror work I was looking at ME. The answers came when I took the time to go within. Now I am creating wealth from the same place that any other person does. I finally realized that I have just as much authority over my creative power as anybody else does. So do you! So back to the quote, “ Life isn't about finding yourself “ It's about creating yourself” Bottom line, we can search and search our whole lives, and while we are searching if we are not led back to our own self for fear of looking there, we will never know how to create brilliantly.
